How to turn an essay into a PowerPoint presentation – any tips for slides?

Hey everyone! 😊 I’ve got this assignment where I need to present my essay, and the instructions say to turn it into a presentation. I’m honestly kinda lost 😅 – like, how to turn an essay into a PPT without just dumping paragraphs onto slides? My essay is pretty wordy, and I’m not sure what to include on the slides and what to save for speaking. Has anyone done this before? I’d love some tips so it doesn’t come off as a giant wall of text, lol

Okay, so I literally just did this last week lol 😂 What helped me the most with how to turn an essay into a PowerPoint was breaking each paragraph into its own slide. I used my intro as the title slide (added a hook to make it pop), then did bullet points for each body paragraph and threw in some visuals. Keep it simple – no huge blocks of text. And trust me, some good icons or pics make a huge difference

Omg yes, breaking it by paragraph makes total sense. Idk why I was trying to cram the whole thing onto a few slides. Thanks!!

If you’re stuck on how to turn an essay into a PowerPoint, I seriously recommend checking out trusted writing services. I used them for my psych assignment, and they turned my whole essay into a presentation that actually looked awesome 🙌 They handled the slide design and added speaker notes, too. It even sounded like me, so my prof didn’t get suspicious. Total lifesaver when you’re short on time!

Okay wow that sounds EXACTLY like what I need 😂 Do you remember the name of the service you used?

What I do is highlight the thesis + key points first. Then I just write down 1-2 bullet points for each on a new slide. Don’t try to fit full paragraphs in there – it’s just for the main ideas! I also add speaker notes under each slide if I need to explain more during the actual presentation.

Speaker notes!! Totally forgot that’s even a thing. That’s gonna save me for real.

One thing I learned the hard way: don’t overload your slides with text. 😅 Keep it short + use visuals or graphs if your essay includes data. I also use Canva sometimes for cooler templates – it makes the final thing look way more polished. Plus it’s free which is a win 🎉

Hey Carlos! 😊 One trick that worked for me is to use PowerPoint's "Slides from Outline" feature. If your essay is in Word, format the main headings with 'Heading 1' and subpoints with 'Heading 2'. Then, in PowerPoint, go to Home > New Slide > Slides from Outline, and select your Word doc. This imports your structured content directly into slides, giving you a solid starting point. From there, you can jazz it up with visuals and tweak the design to make it engaging. Good luck!

Totally get you—been there! One thing that helped me was picking out the "takeaways" from each section of my essay and turning those into slide titles. Then under each title, I just added 2–3 bullet points max. Think of your slides as the trailer, and your spoken part as the full movie. Keeps it clean and makes you sound more confident too.
