Can someone tell me how to avoid AI detection in writing?

I’ve been using ChatGPT for some of my papers lately and I worry that my writing will get flagged as AI. Even though I’ve mostly written everything myself, just using AI for some ideas and edits. I don’t want to stop using it, so can you guys let me know how to avoid AI detection in writing? Pretty please!

I use ChatGPT too, but I always make sure to add some human touch to my writing. AI tends to be super formal and kinda robotic, so I throw in some personal anecdotes, casual phrases, and even a typo or two (not too many tho 😅). That’s how to avoid AI detection in writing. Also, using contractions like I’m instead of I am makes it feel more natural. Another thing I do is read my paper out loud and if anything sounds too stiff or unnatural, I rewrite it in my own words. AI detectors look for super structured and predictable phrasing, so breaking that up helps a lot. I also add in slang or inside jokes that make sense in my paper’s context. AI can’t replicate that kinda personality. Hope this helps!

I didn’t even think about typos on purpose, but honestly, that makes sense. AI be writing like a straight-A student with perfect grammar 😂.

Okay, so I’ve been using AI for outlines but if I copy-paste anything from it, I always rewrite it in my own words. Like, I literally just paraphrase the whole thing while making sure it still sounds like me. AI tends to use really similar phrases, so if you mix it up enough, it won’t get flagged.

This is smart! Thanks!!

I just treat AI like a study buddy instead of a writer. I use it to get ideas, but I make sure to add my own analysis and thoughts. If AI says, “This theme is significant because of XYZ,” I expand on that with my own reasoning. AI detection tools don’t just check for phrasing – they check for originality too. Plus, professors know our writing styles. If we suddenly sound like a professional academic overnight, that’s gonna look sus. Just blend AI insights with your own words, and you’ll be good.

Love this take! AI is good for inspiration, but it’s our job to add the actual thoughts.

AI writing has a weirdly repetitive structure, so I avoid copying anything it generates. Instead, I write my stuff first and then ask AI, “Does this flow well?” or “Can you make this more concise?” That way, I keep my voice while still making my writing stronger. If you’re worried about AI detection, this method works great because it’s still your writing, just polished up a bit. AI detectors can’t flag something that was 100% written by a human!

Sameee. My biggest struggle is making my essays sound less repetitive, so I ask AI to simplify my points. Great advise though!

AI be lying sometimes 💀 I used ChatGPT for a history paper, and it literally made up a fake quote. If you’re using AI, always double-check sources, dates, and facts. If your essay includes something historically impossible, that’s a dead giveaway you used AI. I use AI more for quick summaries, but when it comes to actual content, I always verify. No way I’m getting caught up in AI’s nonsense.

Modern AI detectors aren't even 100% accurate. If you’re mostly writing your papers yourself and just using AI for ideas and edits, you’ll probably be OK, but if you're worried, try running your text through an AI detector yourself before submitting.
