Hey guys! I’m working on my thesis now, and I’m tempted to use ChatGPT for research and editing. But it got me wondering - can ChatGPT be detected as plagiarism?? Cause that would mean that my entire paper can be flagged and I’ll get a low grade, or maybe even get in trouble for it. What is y’all’s experience with it?? Plz help! 🙏

I had the same question when I was writing my essay! From what I’ve read, ChatGPT itself isn’t plagiarism, but if you copy-paste straight from it, that’s where things get sketchy. Some profs use AI detectors, and while those aren’t always accurate, they can still flag your work if it looks super AI-generated. So when I wondered can ChatGPT be detected as plagiarism, I decided not to risk it - no way I’m letting it write whole paragraphs for me 😅. What I do is use it for brainstorming and editing, but I rewrite everything in my own words.

💯 This!! My professor straight-up told us AI tools are fine for editing, but the moment you rely on them for full writing, it messes with your voice. You don’t wanna risk your work sounding robotic.
